Delhi Court Grants Interim Bail to Al-Falah University Chairman Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui in ED Case

A Delhi court has granted interim bail for two weeks to Al-Falah University chairman Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui in a money laundering case being investigated by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED).
The order was passed by Additional Sessions Judge Sheetal Chaudhary Pradhan of the Saket Court, who allowed Siddiqui’s plea for temporary release under Section 45 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Bail Granted on Humanitarian Grounds
The court granted interim bail primarily on humanitarian grounds, noting that Siddiqui’s wife is suffering from Stage-IV metastatic ovarian cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
According to the defence, Siddiqui’s presence was required to take care of his wife during the ongoing medical treatment. Medical documents regarding her condition were submitted before the court in support of the bail plea.
ED’s Objections
The Enforcement Directorate opposed the bail request, arguing that the allegations against Siddiqui involve serious financial crimes and that the medical condition of his wife was stable.
The ED also contended that other family members could look after her and that Siddiqui should not be released given the gravity of the charges under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
However, the court ultimately allowed interim bail considering the medical emergency and humanitarian circumstances.
Background of the ED Case
Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, chairman of the Al-Falah Group and Al-Falah University, is currently facing investigation by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case linked to alleged financial irregularities and diversion of funds.
The university came under scrutiny after security agencies revealed that Dr Umar Nabi, accused in a blast near the Red Fort last year, had previously been employed at the institution.
Investigators are examining financial transactions and alleged irregularities involving entities linked to the Al-Falah Charitable Trust and associated companies.
Conditions of Bail
The Saket Court granted Siddiqui two weeks of interim bail, after which he will be required to surrender before the authorities and return to custody.
The matter remains under investigation, and further proceedings in the money laundering case are expected to continue before the competent court.

यह आदेश साकेत कोर्ट की अतिरिक्त सत्र न्यायाधीश शीटल चौधरी प्रधान ने पारित किया, जिन्होंने प्रिवेंशन ऑफ मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग एक्ट (PMLA) की धारा 45 के तहत दायर जमानत याचिका को स्वीकार किया।
मानवीय आधार पर मिली जमानत
अदालत ने यह अंतरिम जमानत मुख्य रूप से मानवीय आधार पर दी। अदालत के समक्ष बताया गया कि सिद्दीकी की पत्नी स्टेज-IV मेटास्टेटिक ओवेरियन कैंसर से पीड़ित हैं और उनका कीमोथेरेपी उपचार चल रहा है।
बचाव पक्ष ने अदालत को बताया कि इस कठिन समय में अपनी पत्नी की देखभाल के लिए सिद्दीकी की उपस्थिति आवश्यक है। इसके समर्थन में चिकित्सा दस्तावेज भी अदालत के समक्ष प्रस्तुत किए गए।
ईडी का विरोध
प्रवर्तन निदेशालय (ED) ने इस जमानत याचिका का विरोध किया और कहा कि सिद्दीकी के खिलाफ आरोप गंभीर वित्तीय अपराधों से जुड़े हैं।
ईडी ने यह भी तर्क दिया कि उनकी पत्नी की स्थिति स्थिर है और परिवार के अन्य सदस्य उनकी देखभाल कर सकते हैं, इसलिए सिद्दीकी को रिहा नहीं किया जाना चाहिए।
इसके बावजूद अदालत ने मानवीय परिस्थितियों को देखते हुए अंतरिम जमानत देने का निर्णय लिया।

जवाद अहमद सिद्दीकी अल-फलाह समूह और अल-फलाह विश्वविद्यालय के चेयरमैन हैं और उनके खिलाफ मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग से जुड़े वित्तीय अनियमितताओं की जांच चल रही है।
यह विश्वविद्यालय उस समय जांच के दायरे में आया जब सुरक्षा एजेंसियों ने खुलासा किया कि पिछले वर्ष लाल किले के पास हुए विस्फोट के आरोपी डॉ. उमर नबी ने कभी यहां काम किया था।
जमानत की शर्तें
साकेत कोर्ट ने सिद्दीकी को दो सप्ताह की अंतरिम जमानत दी है। इसके बाद उन्हें निर्धारित समय पर फिर से हिरासत में वापस जाना होगा।
मामले की जांच जारी है और आने वाले समय में इस मामले में आगे की सुनवाई होगी।
