The Court pointed out that the lead officer, PW 8, who was responsible for the trap operation, gave a statement that was at odds with the independent witnesses. The officers did not mention seeing the accused take out or throw the bribe money, casting further doubt on the case.

Ultimately, the Supreme Court ruled that the prosecution had failed to prove the demand and acceptance of the bribe beyond a reasonable doubt. As a result, the Court acquitted the accused, setting aside their conviction and sentence from both the trial court and the High Court.
