Pathanamthitta Sessions Court Hears Bail Plea of Kerala MLA Rahul Mamkootathil in Third Rape Case

The Pathanamthitta Sessions Court on Thursday heard the bail application of Kerala MLA Rahul Mamkootathil in connection with a third rape case registered against him, involving allegations of sexual assault, criminal intimidation, and exploitation. पुलिस और अभियोजन पक्ष का आरोप है कि मामकूटथिल ने सोशल मीडिया के माध्यम से पीड़िता से संपर्क स्थापित किया और 8 अप्रैल 2024 को उसे एक होटल का कमरा बुक कराने के लिए उकसाया, जहां कथित रूप से उसका बलात्कार किया गया। अभियोजन यह भी कहता है कि इस घटना के बाद पीड़िता गर्भवती हुई और बाद में गर्भपात का सामना करना पड़ा, तथा विधायक ने उसके साथ धमकियाँ भी दीं।

17 जनवरी को थिरुवल्ला की ज्यूडिशियल फर्स्ट क्लास मजिस्ट्रेट कोर्ट ने मामकूटथिल की जमानत याचिका खारिज कर दी थी, कहा कि आरोप गंभीर हैं और जमानत देने का पक्ष मजबूत नहीं है।
