30-year-old Delhi Judge Dies by Suicide at Safdarjung Residence; Family Alleges Harassment
Share:

A 30-year-old judicial officer, Aman Kumar Sharma, was found dead at his residence in south Delhi’s Safdarjung Enclave on Saturday. The police have initiated inquest proceedings after the body was found hanging in a locked bathroom.

Aman Kumar Sharma, who was serving as the full-time Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) at Karkardooma Courts, allegedly took the extreme step following a domestic dispute. According to police sources, a PCR call was received around 1:45 PM from his brother-in-law, reporting that the judge had locked himself inside. Emergency responders had to break a windowpane to gain entry, where they found him unresponsive. He was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The family of the deceased has leveled serious allegations against his wife, who is also a Judicial Officer, and her sister, an IAS officer posted in Jammu. The victim's father claimed that Aman had called him the previous night expressing deep distress, stating it was becoming difficult for him to continue living due to persistent mental harassment and interference in his personal life.

The Delhi Police stated that no suicide note has been recovered so far. “No foul play has been established yet; however, we are examining all angles, including the allegations of domestic conflict,” a senior official said. Sharma was a 2018 graduate of Symbiosis Law School, Pune, and had joined the Delhi Judicial Services in June 2021.
