THE POLICE ACT, 1949

Section 1

Short title, extent and commencement

(1) This Act may be called the Police Act, 1949.

(2) It extends to all the ¹[Union territories].

(3) It shall come into force in a ²[Union territory] on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint in this behalf for ³[such territory].
